Apple code leak reveals iPad mini 8, HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K

The leak covers three product lines at once. The images sit in code that Apple shipped itself, so outlets treat them as official renders, not as mockups from a case maker or a supply-chain source.

For the iPad mini 8, MacRumors reports an A20 Pro chip. The name marks the eighth generation of Apple's smallest tablet.

The HomePod mini 2 would be the first new version of the small speaker in six years. Engadget reports that it will come in new colors but keep a design close to the current model.

Context

A leak from Apple's own code carries more weight than a report from the supply chain. A supplier render can be a draft or out of date. An image that ships inside Apple's software was made by Apple. That does not settle a launch date. It does make the products themselves hard to dispute.

The chip is the headline for the tablet. An A20 Pro puts a processor from Apple's Pro tier into the smallest iPad. If that holds, the iPad mini 8 is defined by performance more than by a new look.

The HomePod mini is the bigger surprise. Six years without a successor is a long gap for any Apple device. New colors on a familiar shape point to a refresh, not a redesign.
