Sony fronts October with last year's racing game, but the second name on the list is the one more likely to keep subscribers playing past the month.

The PlayStation Plus monthly games for October 2026 are F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. PlayStation announced the lineup on September 30, 2026, in posts on its English and German blogs. Last year's Formula 1 game takes the top billing. The title most likely to outlast the month sits right behind it.

What is known

Three games make up the October batch. PlayStation lists them in this order:

  • F1 25
  • Hunt: Showdown 1896
  • Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2

The English and the German PlayStation Blog carry the same three titles under the same date. Neither version adds a fourth game to the monthly list.

IGN reported the October 2026 lineup as well. Video Games Chronicle led its headline with F1 25 alone, which shows how the announcement is being read outside Sony: the racing game is the name that sells the month.

Context

Opening with F1 25 is the obvious move. It is last year's entry in a series that returns every season, and a familiar licence is the easiest way to get attention for a subscription month. That also defines its limits. A yearly sports game is quick to pick up and easy to explain, and a newer edition is always in sight.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is the more interesting pick for anyone deciding where to spend their evenings. It is not tied to a single season in its title, and it is built to be played again and again rather than finished. For a subscription game, that matters: the value of a monthly title is measured by how long it stays installed, not by how loud the announcement was.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 rounds out the list. As a sequel in a spin-off line, it is the least prominent of the three and the one most likely to be overlooked. It is still part of the same package, so trying it costs subscribers nothing beyond download time.

Taken together, October offers one licensed sports game, one long-running game and one smaller sequel. That mix spreads the month across different kinds of players instead of betting on a single headline.

What is open

The exact date from which the games can be added to a library, how long they stay available and which consoles each version supports are not confirmed here. The PlayStation Blog post from September 30, 2026, is the reference for those details.
