GTA 6 lets you keep the music on foot with headphones, radio and podcasts
Radio has always lived inside the car in GTA. GTA 6 breaks that link and turns music and talk into something you carry with you.
GTA 6 is the first game in the series to keep music playing outside a vehicle. Your character wears headphones and can listen to radio and podcasts while walking. Golem.de, Eurogamer and MP1st all report the change. It ends a long habit of the series: step out of the car, and the radio goes silent.

Golem.de calls it a first for the franchise. Music in GTA 6 no longer depends on a car, bike or boat. It keeps going as you move through the world on foot.
Eurogamer names two listening devices: headphones and earbuds. According to its report, both play radio and podcasts.
MP1st has published details on the radio stations. Six stations are covered so far. MP1st also confirms on-demand podcasts. They do not follow a fixed broadcast schedule. They start when the player picks them.
MP1st adds that podcasts also work on foot. They are not limited to drives.
Einordnung
In earlier GTA games, radio was part of the vehicle. Get in, and you got music, talk shows and fake ads. Get out, and you got silence or street noise. That split shaped the series for a long time. Many players still tie certain stations to certain drives.
GTA 6 removes that line. Music and spoken content stop being a car feature. They become a companion that works no matter how you travel. Long walks, exploration and quiet stretches now keep their soundtrack, even with no car nearby.
On-demand podcasts push in the same direction. Until now, talk content in GTA ran as part of a station's programming. Miss a show, and you waited for it to come around again. An on-demand model hands control to the player. It also fits a character who uses headphones the way people use a phone in daily life.
The fact that headphones and earbuds appear as distinct items suggests the feature is built into the world itself, not just added as a menu toggle.

The sources give no full station list and no total count of stations in the game. It is also unclear how players control audio on foot, whether music pauses during missions or cutscenes, and whether headphones have to be bought or unlocked.
