HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+ to merge into one streaming service
Three subscriptions become one app: after Paramount's takeover of Warner, Skydance plans to fold both companies' streaming services together.
HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+ are set to become one streaming service. Ars Technica and Engadget reported the plan in October 2026. Engadget names Skydance as the company behind it, and the move follows Paramount's takeover of Warner, which Tagesschau also covers.

Three services that are sold separately today are involved:
- HBO Max
- Paramount+
- Discovery+
Ars Technica lists all three as part of the merger. The goal is one combined service, not three apps that happen to share a parent company.
Engadget focuses on HBO Max and Paramount+. It identifies Skydance as the company pushing the combination. Discovery+ does not appear in Engadget's headline, while Ars Technica names it directly.
Tagesschau places the streaming plan inside the larger deal: Paramount's acquisition of Warner. The merger of the apps is a consequence of that corporate transaction, not a standalone product launch.
Einordnung
Today, anyone who wants access to all three catalogs needs three separate subscriptions. A single service would end that split: one account, one app, one library.
That could simplify things for people who already pay for more than one of these services. Cheaper is a different matter. A larger catalog in one bundle can just as easily come with a higher monthly price. None of the reports gives figures either way.
The move also fits a broader pattern. Instead of launching new standalone services, media companies are folding existing ones together after acquisitions. This merger would put content from two major Hollywood studios under a single brand.

The sources do not give a name for the new service, a launch date or a price. They also do not say what happens to existing HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+ subscriptions, whether accounts carry over automatically, or in which countries the combined service will be available.
It is also unclear how fully Discovery+ will be absorbed. Ars Technica names it as part of the merger, while Engadget's headline mentions only HBO Max and Paramount+.
